Savers Closet Remix

savers arizonaOne of my favorite things to do in the new year is a good closet sweep.  Believe it or not I actually enjoy cleaning out my closet and getting rid of things. I will admit, sometimes it is difficult to part form some items, but in the end you will be thankful you haven’t kept that unworn blouse you “may wear someday.”  Plus it makes room for the new items I have been swooning.

Here are some helpful questions I ask myself when cleaning out my closet:
“Have I worn this in a year?”
“Is this something a woman in their 30’s would wear?”
“What would I wear this to?” -and give yourself 30 seconds
“How many times would I wear this in a year?”

Since I was in a teenager I have donated and shopped at Savers. If you have read my blog you know Savers is my all time favorite thrift store.  By donating with Savers you are not only recycling unused goods, but you are helping preserve the landfills of America.  Savers/Value Village  actually keeps 650 million lbs of reusable items out of landfills annually.  It is a great feeling to drop off the old items and an added bonus you can recycle them to people who need them.

Thrift stores are meant to be a treasure hunt so I don’t always purchase items after donating, but in the new year I like to grab a few key pieces to intermix into my wardrobe.  I wanted to show you all how easy it is to not only pick up thrifted items, but then incorporate them into your already fabulous wardrobe.   Below are some looks I put together from “new to me” items I purchased on my recent  Savers trips.

Bisbee, AZ

Bisbee, AZ has been on my radar the minute I discovered The Shady Dell’s website. I knew I would enjoy this one of a kind vintage RV park, but had no idea how darling the entire town was. We arrived just before sunset and got greeted by the park manager, full of energy who reminded us of a cartoon character. I am not a big camper and was not expecting much from the amenities department, but boy was I wrong. Our little trailer was equipped with everything we needed. I love how much of it seems untouched and preserved for the full affect. Between old cars, abandon stores, and the coolest locals it’s a must see if you’re ever in the Southern Arizona area.

Singh Farms

One of the best things about living in a large city like Phoenix is that I am constantly discovering new gems right in my backyard.  I heard about Singh Farms last year from a girlfriend and I had no idea what to expect.  Truthfully, I have never been impressed by a lot of the Farmer’s Markets in the Phoenix area. That was until I visited Singh Farms. The craziest thing to me is that this farm is 3 miles from my home and the minute you enter into it you feel like you’re in a different state.  It is a lush, secluded hideaway that offers fresh produce, fruit, homemade breads, locally raised eggs as well as fresh roasted coffee!! Honestly, what else do you need? If you are ever in the Phoenix area, Singh Farms is a must see!
