Best Dressed at the Oscars 2013

This is the first year I had a few gfs over and actually made plans to watch the Oscars. It was so much fun! I was sort of surprised by the neutral colored theme of the evening. But that didn’t stop these beauties from show stopping! Here are some of my fav’s:

best dressed at the oscars

Love this peuter color and the cut outs are perfection on Naomi Watt’s perfect figure. Her hair looks beautiful and the entire look works so well!

4537684-3x4-700x933 Jessica stunned with her loose waves and delicate beaded gown. I don’t feel like this is a dress that would look good on many, but she looks amazing

Reese Witherspoon looks beautiful in this cobalt blue Louis Vuitton. I adore her and think she can do no wrong. She also looks like she has not aged at all! Oh and did you know she just had a baby?!

Jennifer Lawrence is so dazzling in Dior. I also love that she accidentally fell while she went to accept her award. She seems so normal. Loved her in this gown.

Is it just me or does everyone need to eat a cheeseburger? Damn Gina! I love Amanda Seyfried’s quirky personality and we all know how I feel about Mr Alexander McQueen…PERFECTION!

halle_berry best dressed oscars

I think this dress was the winner for me. I LOVE this gown on Halle Berry. The futuristic structured shoulders and the low cut top flatter this gorgeous actress perfectly. She killed it!

What were your favorites of the night? I absolutely loved the Les Mis performance!

I hope you have a great day today!

Best Dressed at the Grammy’s

Just another Manic Monday post award show. I was able to watch most of the red carpet, but had plans for the rest of the evening so I DVR’d it and cannot wait to watch the actual awards show tonight. This was by far the most outrageous awards show of the season! Here are my top 5 “Best Dressed at the Grammy’s 2013”

Miranda Lambert-She looks amazing in her navy blue, flowing gown with a plunging neckline by Roberto Cavalli and oversized Kimberly McDonald earrings. This is the first I have ever heard of Kimberly McDonald until last night. But these earrings were a perfect addition to her sexy look. I am kinda obsessed with her and Blake Shelton.

Taylor Swift-This Grecian style J Mendel gown was meant for Taylor. This girl can do no wrong.  It was one of my top two favs and I think the dual braided crown ties the entire look together effortlessly. She is perfection.

Florence Welch-There is NO ONE else, and I mean NO ONE else that could pull off this to die for Emerald Green custom-made Givenchy gown. I really love her in Green and feel like it is the perfect shade to compliment her vibrant red hair. Her music is strong and powerful and so is she in this gown. I know some people had mixed feelings about this one, but for me it was a solid choice! :)

Fun fact:Florence only wears Givenchy to red-carpet events. florence grammy's

Rihanna-Does anyone know her last name? lol. She is glowing in this custom Azzedine Alaia dress. The color is so beautiful on her and I really like her long loose locks. She normally pushes the envelope w/her day to day edgy street style, but last night she took elegance to a whole new level. Her nails are always on trend and I am loving the new “Mani Cam” on E! Ck them out here if you missed it!rihanna best dressed grammy's

Kelly Rowland- I thought this girl brought it to the Superbowl, but holy hell this is my best dressed of the evening. Her body is ridiculous, specifically her toned arms. Holy cow I need to do some push-ups. She STUNNED the entire red carpet in this risque Georges Chakra Couture dress. I mean, I am out of words. Just look at her. So gorgeous.kelly rowland 2013 grammy's

What were your favorites from the Grammy’s? Everyone has been talking about Justin Timberlake’s performance. I can’t wait to watch it! I have a feeling I will be watching that over and over and over again tonight. :)

What’s In Her Bag???

Happy Weekend loves!

I have always enjoyed finding out what is inside my fellow bloggers bags and thought I would partake myself…bag necessities

1) Keys to my whip. A 2002 Beetle, it is yellow. 2) Ray Ban Aviators-My #1 GO to sunnies. 3) Ted Baker Wallet-Not only is this multi-functional it is so slick and perfect for everyday use.  4) Iphone with Rebecca Minkoff case-This case is the most durable case I have ever had. I got it at the Rack last month and wish I purchased 2 of them just to have a backup. 5) Per-fekt Lash Gel-I told you before about my love for Birchbox and this product is so amazing to have on long days where you’re just looking for a quick pick me up. 6) The Balm Highlighter– I recently started using highlighter a few months ago. I had read a lot about it and seen other girls where it, but never felt like it was for me until I got this little gem in my Birchbox. 7) Kiss Me-Philosophy lip gloss-I have been using this for years. It is the perfect gloss that actually moisturizes your lips.  8) Carmex Smoothers-I was trying this product out. I am always on the hunt for a good chapstick and I really like this one.  9) Michael Kors iphone wristlet-This has been the best thing I have purchased all year. When I don’t want to use my handbag I just grab this little guy and I am handsfree and ready to go.  10) My Planner by Sarah Pinto-I searched high and low and decided on this bad boy for my planner.  I love the neon pink.

Ok now your turn…What are some products you have in your bag that you love? Or maybe have even just recently purchased? I would love to know! Have a wonderful weekend loves!

The SAG Awards…or SAD Awards?

Good morning loves! I was so excitedly hoping that today’s post would include raves of fabulous gowns similar to the show stopping GG just a few wks ago. Seen here.  However, I was less than impressed and judging by my fellow twitter friends, you all feel the same…The only saving grace from this blunder after blunder was all of this Navy bliss. I have never grown to love a color more. These ladies put it down with gorgeous blue gowns so unique from one another.

2013 sag awardsJennifer Lawrence & Marion Cotillard-Both of these starlets are dazzling in their own blue Dior gowns. I love the slit panels on Jennifer’s mermaid style dress. They are perfectly defined for optimal elongation of her delicate frame. Marion shines in her two-toned white on top blue on bottom high low styled gown with an impecable train.  The pockets add a casual sensibility to the look and suits her carefree attitude.

Amanda Seyfried-Dazzles in Zac Posen. So elegant and sophisticated with her casual waves pressed to the one side. She kept it simple with minimal makeup and jewelry. Effortlessly chic and amaze!!

jordin sparks 2013 sag awards

I missed Jordin Sparks entirely. That was until I woke up and read Perez Hilton this am. She is beaming in this beautiful blue! She looks amazing. It looks like this Nicole Miller dress was made for her.

Another trend that I have been seeing a lot this award season is the sideways part/sideways wavy hair. It looks so effortlessly elegant and I can’t wait for a reason to give it a try. Did you have any dresses that you loved or didn’t love? Am I the only one who was semi disappointed?? Let me know!

Best Dressed at the Golden Globes

I didn’t grow up watching awards shows, but over the past few years I have totally gotten into them, mainly for the gorgeous gowns. This year did not let us down. I was literally FREAKING out at how gorgeous some of these ladies looked.  My best dressed list is only women. Call me sexist, but I don’t get all that excited about a Calvin Klein suit vs a Tom Ford suit. A guy in a suit looks great to me, no matter if it’s from a sought after designer or from Banana Republic.  Guys look good in suits. Period. Below you will only find my girl crushes :)

Anne Hathaway in Chanel-Ok so I read that she had to lose a ton of weight for Les Mis and she does look boney skinny, but girlfriend rocks her adorable pixie and body tight cream Chanel gown. She kept jewelry simple, but it works for her. She looks Flawless.  anne-hathaway-chanel-golden-globes-h724

Claire Danes in Versace-Claire literally just had a baby.  I can still see her awkward face in “Little Women” or the highly popular 90’s sitcom “My So Called Life.” She is still bringing it! I love the red wrap gown with her big blonde hair! Her jewels are Lorraine Schwartz.

Kate Hudson in Alexander McQueen-I have little words for this dress. It made me jump off the couch. Best dressed in my opinion for the evening. She is such a babe and wears this amazing, timeless, sultry gown sooooo well. I feel like this dress was made for her. It speaks for itself so little hair and makeup is needed and that is how you see Kate on most days!BAiFJShCUAAc4Ha

Jessica Alba in Oscar De La Renta-This girl is bananas. She is so stunning and this color orange could not be more perfect for her skin color. I love the loose curls to one side and the gorgeous diamond statement necklace.  The material of this gown is so delicate and that furry clutch is a perfect addition! Love her in this! jessica-alba-oscar-delarenta-golden-globes-h724

Hayden Panettiere in Roberto Cavalli-This little nugget always seems to look fabulous. I love how grown up and sophisticated she looks.  Her loose hair and minimal jewelry looks fab with her sun kissed skin!hayden-panettiere-roberto-cavalli-golden-globes-h724

Now onto the worst dressed of the Golden Globes…I honestly cannot believe people don’t have a friend, hair stylist, stylist, boyfriend to tell them that they don’t look good. I also noticed a trend of which some celebrities thought it was prom night…Big no no at the Golden Globes! I was very disappointed that one of my favs is included in this list, Zooey Deschanel. :(

Artistrepreneurs-The Digital Armory

artistpreneur amy blackI was recently asked by the greatly talented James Korte from The Digital Armory to participate in a blog series titled “Artistpreneurs.”  The series showcases young artists/entrepreneurs….get it? Artistpreneurs! James is an expert web designer and video editor who resides in Ohio. His talent runs deep as he excels at nearly everything he does.  His company has grown tremendously over this past year and his work is highly recognized within the industry.  He also is my cousin who I grew with for most of my childhood.  Whether it was running through the woods of our cabin’s in Michigan, going on nature hikes with my dad, fishing on the lake or spending Thanksgiving at each other’s houses I always looked up to Jim and his brother Kyle. As adults we aren’t able to see each other near as much as we would like, but we are about to have a kick-ass family reunion and a cousin trip to Vegas this summer and I can’t even wait :)

The list of other participants in this project are out of this world inspiring and I feel very honored to be included in this group. You can ck out The Digital Armory website and my feature here!

Happy Monday kids!

AVC Revealed- Accessories

Hellllo Wednesday!!!!!!!!  How you livin?! Today is my first post of my NEW AVC Revealed section of the blog! Yay…Get Excited!!!! Today’s post is about my ACCESSORIES!!!  I often get asked how I store/keep my jewelry.  It has taken me a good 2 years to finally put into place a practical storage situation.  Having things out in the open or at least easily accessible is crucial for me.  If I can’t see it I won’t wear it.  I used an old armoire that I have had since high school and spray painted the doors Seafoam. On the top shelf is where I keep all my sunglasses, wrap, friendship, and beaded bracelets, and my rings.  On the bottom shelf is all of my bangles, watches, earrings, and lipsticks.

Here is a closer look at the top shelf:

Ring display:

Bottom shelf: Bangles on wine bottle, bangles, photo album from my best friend, earring tree, bowties, lipsticks

Another thing I love about this shelving is that I can close the door to make it not exposed. Do you have a good technique to storing accessories?

I look forward to sharing with you how I store my clothes, shoes and more!

The Carrie Bradshaw Effect

Hello lovies!
I mentioned last week that new changes are happening with AVC and I am so excited to share them with you.  It is important to me that this blog is constantly growing and developing along with me.  In addition to finalizing branding, organizing new giveaways, and creating style boards for fall I was asked to participate in a style challenge.
I want to introduce you to one of my dear friends, Angie from The Hotness Your Momma Warned You About. Last week Ang decided to embark on a full blown, life changing style challenge and invited me along with her.  I was excited to hear what it was…and then…the BOMB…NO SHOPPING TIL JAN 1ST 2013. (insert gasps and swear words here) She is calling it the “Carrie Bradshaw Effect” This isn’t something I have attempted before, but I am always up for a challenge. We are both posting about this challenge today in hopes for accountability as well as more participates.  Are you crazy brave enough to join??????
It just so happens that Fall is my favorite season so temptation will inevitably be high.  I think it is important when setting goals that they are actually achievable.  In this case I am well aware discipline, lots of chocolate, running, and whatever else addicts do during their absence of abuse….No really I think this is an essential practice that any fashion lover needs to partake in at certain times of their lives.  Out with the old in with the new. Remaining creative and original is one of the goals I have always had for this project.  This is just another step for me to achieve that. :)
  • No money can be spent on new/used clothes until January 1, 2013.  That at least is for me…I think that if you decided to join you should be flexible with people depending on their needs/lifestyle.  If you want to go for shorter fine.  If you want to go for longer, have at it.
  • Make realistic parameters for yourself.  It is important to not make a commitment that is so out of the question where you are just setting yourself up for failure.
  • Wednesday’s are for rethinking your wardrobe.  The idea is since we are on spending freezes right when the seasons are changing, how can we transition a piece three ways (Summer, Fall, Winter) by utilizing the items that we already own.  For instance:  That maxi dress we all got on sale in August…Show a medium layering for Fall and then a heavy multiple layer for Winter.  Since this isn’t just for bloggers, let’s ask people to post their rethought, remixed outifit on Instagram and hashtag it #bradshaweffect
I look forward to showing you what this girl can do/make/create/work with in the next 3.5 months!!! I love you Carrie, but I am in search of more assets than what can be offered for my feet.
