Have an amazing day!
One of the main reasons I started this blog was to give myself an outlet where I could be creative…Putting together all of these outfits takes time yes, but I love it. I would do it all day if I could. My love for styling isn’t limited to just my own. I love when a friend calls or texts me questions & advice on what to wear to things. I love dressing people up, letting them borrow items for a night and seeing them smile because it’s another way to feel beautiful.
The idea behind “Amy’s Vintage Closet” began sometime in my 20’s when I realized that even though I owned pieces similar to other people, I did not dress like most of them. My style is a mix of thrifted/vintage items mixed with Forever 21, Nordstrom, TJ Maxx and Ebay. In my opinion there is nothing more original than mixing of an item designed decades ago with something you recently purchased.
There are two things that I do splurge on…Can you guess which two they are??? DING DING DING…Shoes and Handbags. Guilty as charged! But those two items will inevitably outlive me so they may as well be something that is extra gorgeous! May I introduce you to these red beauties designed by the ever so talented Brian Atwood!

One of the best trends this Spring, (in my opinion) is the pajama pant. A loose, often silk, straight leg, patterned pant that screams comfort. One thing I don’t wear as often as I would like are dress pants. A lot of this has to do with what I do for work so on the weekends or on an off day I try to spruce it up a bit.
*I have a similar pair of pants last seen here.*

Good Afternoon loves!
I hope everyone had a great weekend. We had some friends in town which always seems to keep me busy! I love having visitors, but I am looking forward to a mellow week. The next few months are going to be busy busy with work, traveling, weddings, and lots of exciting new happenings for AVC. One thing that you should know about me if you’re an AVC follower is my love for Birchbox. I signed up with this awesome company almost a year ago and have honestly loved ALL of my monthly boxes. This month’s box is on another level AMAZE!!!!!!!!! Included in my box this month were the following items:
1) Twistband-Headband Collection-I don’t normally wear these, but it came in handy when I wash my face. It is the 2nd item from the Twistband company, the first was a wrist band hairtie which I wear ALL the time!
2) Whish-Shave Cream-I used this right away. I hate shaving because I have thick hair and very sensitive skin, but this cream was so smooth and I didn’t have any sort of irritation afterwards.
3) Serge Normant-Dry Shampoo-LOVE this product, but hate when some of them make my hair white/flaky. Totally buying this brand in the full size when my sample is out!
4) Madewell-Emery Board-Nothing special about this little guy except that it’s the most darling floral print ever. But they did include a $25 off any purchase of $75 or more inside the box!
5) Incoco Design Nail Appliques-I got the pink version of this nail decal kit and I am not a huge fan of pink, but I plan on mixing them with some bolder, edgier colored polishes. Stay tuned for my mani of the week later on this week!!
If you aren’t signed up yet I definitely encourage you to give it a try. At only $10 a month it isn’t a break the bank commitment AND you may cancel your membership at any time if you chose. Simply click here to sign up and give it a try!
I am huge fan of headwear. Whether it is a scarf, hat, headband, or recent obsession a turban I love them all. My love for turban’s developed with my love for all things Zoe. At the time all of the turban’s I found online were $100 and up. I searched the web until I found one more in my price range. (under $30 from Ebay) I think a turban is something that may scare the average girl, but rest assured this hat looks great with almost everything. It is so easy to throw one on when you’re heading to the pool, with a swim suit coverup or out running around town. I love it paired with a long summer dress, or even with a structured business casual outfit like I did today. It seems like I have seen them in dozens of stores nowadays. Also check vintage or thrift stores for them because I scored a fab vintage turban that you may remember, last seen here!

Happy Tuesday loves!
Here are a few more pics from my Mexico getaway. I think it’s safe to say we consumed every fruit possible from the beach vendors. I am still full from tortillas, ceviche, oysters, tacos and beer. I enjoyed it so much that I am already planning a trip back. See you in a few weeks Mexico…
Sorry for the late post, but today has been busy busy busy. I left town Friday with some girlfriends and we went to Puerto Penasco, Mexico! One of the best things about living in Arizona is how close we are to great getaway spots, Mexico being one of them. When packing for Mexico I always go light. (You may remember my trip to Cabo last summer here.) Do you need anything else besides a swim suit, sunnies, and a pair of sandals? Not really. The weather was perfect…80-85 degrees the entire weekend. I bought this flowered head band from Asos last year around this time in preparation for Coachella.

Today I am talking skirts, specifically leather skater skirts. I have seen this look on the runways & in stores for the past few months. I am not a huge skirt person, but I was so excited to find one that I fell in love with! I purchased this one at Forever 21! At the time they had 3 different ones on hand and I found that the A-line style worked best for me. I paired this skirt with a vintage python silk blouse. The combination was a simple balance of new and old that I was looking for.
