Who is that lady all dressed up? LOL. Seriously though, truth is folks my normal style is beyond casual. I work for my parents restaurants so I wear NO makeup, NO silk and often can be found in a tshirt and nikes. This is one of the main reasons I started this blog. To have a reason to get up, get ready and go out. Here is my Friday look…

I hope everyone is having a great week! I am approaching my season for work and it feels soooo good to be busy. It also forces me to be more organized and get more done. 2 weeks ago I introduced you to the Carrie Bradshaw Effect that I have committed to take part in with fellow bloggers. If you didn’t read about it, it’s basically a shopping freeze until Jan 1. Not shopping has not been as bad as I thought it would be. It was perfect timing to me working more hours and having more on my plate. Conveniently, Dapper Fellow has kicked his shopping up a notch. Taking full advantage of TopMan in our local Nordstrom. It is fun to get excited about men’s clothing though. It is so different than ours. I will be sure to update you along the way and I assure you that it will not all be positive and easy reports. I am heading to SF in 2 weeks to visit my sister and our favorite past time to do together is thrift. It’s going to be very hard! Here is my week via gram…
Make this day worth it! Hug someone, drink good coffee, laugh hard where your stomach hurts, call a family member, be thankful you’re alive!!!!!!!!!!
Bowties, loafers, boyfriend jeans, slippers, over sized cardigans & blazers, you name it. I want it all. I have always had a soft spot for menswear and especially love mixing it with feminine pieces. Here I kept it basic casual and let the shoes do all the talking…

Have a lovely day!
Ok. It is official. I am declaring it fall. Yes I realize the temps are still 100 in AZ, but I am boycotting summer/indian summer/tank tops from now on. That is until I pass out from overheating. I ventured to the storage unit this weekend to gather my fall/winter threads and was elated when I opened the “colored jeans” box. I absolutely LOVE colored pants. Dapper Fellow bought me these ones last year and at first I didn’t know if the color would work for me. It didn’t take long to discover how much I could wear them with.

Hello lovelies, I hope you all had a fab wkd! I want to thank you all for the great response on Savory Sunday’s. It was so much fun to incorporate another dynamic to this blog and I look forward to doing more in the future. For the most part of the weekend I was working, but I did get a chance to sneak away for brunch with some of my favs and a quick photo shoot!

Get your fall on!!!
One of my passions besides fashion is food. Considering I am currently on a spending freeze from shopping I wanted to incorporate another dynamic for AVC…introducing “Savory Sunday’s” I am going to try and do this every week, but we will see how it goes.
I grew up in the restaurant industry. It has been my job since I was 15. I currently manage one of my family’s restaurants called Jimmy and Joe’s. When I lived in San Diego I managed two different concepts and it was there I was introduced to the farm to the table concept of food. The idea of growing, producing, buying and eating locally. A concept that many don’t know about or care about, but truly is important. As a family and also with my Dapper Fellow we hardly ever eat at chained restaurants and seek out the mom and pop, organic, locally harvested spots. Being in San Diego it was soooo easy to find places like this because they are BIG contributors in this movement and have perfect weather for farms. Living in Arizona it is a bit more difficult, but they’re catching on.
Today I met up with two of my bests for lunch at a spot I had never been to before called The Coffee Shop. It was the cutest, well marketed, amazing spot that we all enjoyed SO much. I wish it wasn’t so far away from my house, but it was definitely worth the trip.
I got the Field Veggie sandwich and added turkey. Sooooo good! I hope you all had a fab weekend!
Back in March I featured the infamous blogger favorite “floral trousers” from H&M. If you haven’t figured it out yet, I am not a big believer in specific clothes for specific seasons. In previous outfit posts I have mentioned the word “transitional pieces” and as I get older I am definitely learning how to better identify which are needed for my wardrobe. What’s crazy is that when I bought these pants last spring I struggled with what to match them with other than this tan blouse. Today I pulled them from the back of the closet and got so excited to see them again because this time along it was so easy to match. Here are two ways to wear floral, busy printed pants.

The original post was here! This particular look it is very profesional/casual. The flats tone it down, but the tucked in, belted blouse combo makes it look clean and polished.

I look forward to creating more content similar to this in the future. Stay tuned for AM to PM looks, one piece 5 ways and other multiple outfit variety. Have a great weekend!
I swear once I catch up and get into the swing of things the week is nearly over. I want to say thank you to all of you sweet loves for wishing me luck & giving me encouragement on my #spendingfreeze #stylechallenge #thebradshaweffect. If you don’t know what I am talking about ck it out here. I am working this entire weekend, but I definitely look forward to a fun Sunday Brunch w/my favs.
Have a super duper day!
I mentioned last week that new changes are happening with AVC and I am so excited to share them with you. It is important to me that this blog is constantly growing and developing along with me. In addition to finalizing branding, organizing new giveaways, and creating style boards for fall I was asked to participate in a style challenge.
I want to introduce you to one of my dear friends, Angie from The Hotness Your Momma Warned You About
. Last week Ang decided to embark on a full blown, life changing style challenge and invited me along with her. I was excited to hear what it was…and then…the BOMB…NO SHOPPING TIL JAN 1ST 2013. (insert gasps and swear words here) She is calling it the “Carrie Bradshaw Effect
” This isn’t something I have attempted before, but I am always up for a challenge. We are both posting about this challenge today in hopes for accountability as well as more participates. Are you
brave enough to join??????
It just so happens that Fall is my favorite season so temptation will inevitably be high. I think it is important when setting goals that they are actually achievable. In this case I am well aware discipline, lots of chocolate, running, and whatever else addicts do during their absence of abuse….No really I think this is an essential practice that any fashion lover needs to partake in at certain times of their lives. Out with the old in with the new. Remaining creative and original is one of the goals I have always had for this project. This is just another step for me to achieve that.
- No money can be spent on new/used clothes until January 1, 2013. That at least is for me…I think that if you decided to join you should be flexible with people depending on their needs/lifestyle. If you want to go for shorter fine. If you want to go for longer, have at it.
- Make realistic parameters for yourself. It is important to not make a commitment that is so out of the question where you are just setting yourself up for failure.
- Wednesday’s are for rethinking your wardrobe. The idea is since we are on spending freezes right when the seasons are changing, how can we transition a piece three ways (Summer, Fall, Winter) by utilizing the items that we already own. For instance: That maxi dress we all got on sale in August…Show a medium layering for Fall and then a heavy multiple layer for Winter. Since this isn’t just for bloggers, let’s ask people to post their rethought, remixed outifit on Instagram and hashtag it #bradshaweffect
I look forward to showing you what this girl can do/make/create/work with in the next 3.5 months!!! I love you Carrie, but I am in search of more assets than what can be offered for my feet.
