Nautical Vintage

TGIF and a long weekend! We work Monday, but I love working “country club holiday’s” because people are in the best moods!

Considering there is no ocean/real lakes in AZ I  am in search of my own nautical being.  This clutch was a bday pressent from my parents.  I have been dying to debut it.

Instagram Thursday’s

Am I the only one who can’t believe it is Thursday already? What. A. Whirlwind. Most of you are probably gearing up for a fun 3 day weekend! I have some fun news to share with you all. Yesterday I found out that I was featured as Coco Kouture: Blog Spotter of the day.  It made me smile and made my day! (I did a mini happy dance with the pups) Another reminder of how wonderful all of you are and how much I appreciate those who support and follow AVC.

Now onto Instagram Thursday’s.  This past week was packed full of bbq’s, pool time, lots of shoes, macaroons, fun nights with friends, and dinners in…

You can follow me on Instagram here. Have a fab day.

No Collar Popping Allowed

I am loving collared necklaces! Such a spicy, sassy, glamorous addition to an outfit.  Isn’t it amazing how a simple added touch can create so much more to a look? I purchased a black one earlier this summer seen here.  This gold one was a bday gift from my dear friend Karla and I love the detailing in it.  The dress is old and actually has a gold chain for the halter which matches nicely with the bold, statement, collar necklace!

Miu Miu Debut

I am totally and utterly smitten by these slippers. I am very excited for the weather to cool down so I can wear them with pants, blazers, scarfs etc.  This is a shoe I saw and fell in love with instantly.  I am normally not one to splurge on…well anything, but my bday was around the corner and my sweet dapper fellow surprised me with them! :) The loafer or “smoking slipper” is going to be hot for fall and considering there isn’t much snow/rain here I plan on wearing them throughout the year.  For a more reasonable purchase I am LOVING the Gap versions of this shoe here here here.

Once, twice, three times a lady…

Isn’t it amazing how a dress can make you feel? It’s like when you get your hair done. Instantly you feel refreshed, beautiful and confident.  I found this dress at a thrift store and I absolutely love the cut.  The bottom half poofs a little bit and has such a great color pattern.  As much as I love menswear for women, there is something about a great dress that is ladylike and free.

Clothing Swap

Last night I attended a “clothing swap” with my mom and some wonderful ladies. I have always heard of these going on, but I have never attended one before.  My friend Joy set it up and it was such a fun time.  She surely knows how to throw a party. She made little bags with all of our names on it and then inside had our number which was the order in which we would shop.  From there she randomly would draw a number and each group took turns browsing the merchandise.  Anything left over was donated.  It looks like the host was bopping around so much I wasn’t able to snap a picture. :(

Have you lovelies ever been to one of these? If not, I totally recommend setting one up for you and your girlfriends! Have a great weekend and thanks again Joy!

Ted Baker Scottsdale Event

Last night we were invited to attend a Ted Baker fashion event at The Mint in Scottsdale, AZ.  It was an amazing turnout and so fun to talk and mingle with people. My best friend works for the company and this was their first outside of the store event.  There were so many well dressed individuals I couldn’t stop snapping pics!

If you haven’t heard of Ted Baker before be sure to check out their fabulous website here! And follow them on Twitter.

Have a great weekend!!

Instagram Thursday’s-plus 32 years of marriage

This Instagram Thursday post is special because it is my parents wedding anniversary.  They celebrate 32 years of marriage today.  I love them very much and wouldn’t be the person that I am today without them leading the way always showing me how to laugh, love others that hurt you, make the right decisions, go to school, chase your dreams, stay one step ahead of the game, travel often, never settle, set boundaries, work hard and play hard.

Most of my life I have always been a daddy’s girl. We work together, are designed exactly the same, like all the same things, react similar in situations and literally laugh the majority of the day.  But the most precious gift this past year has been getting to know, love, and appreciate my mom SO much deeper than I have in the past.  We too are always laughing, but it is a different kind of connection that I have longed for my entire life.  She is so healthy, has the best advice, loves hollywood gossip, and we bond over shopping and coffee! Oh and she takes about half of my blog pics as well!  I feel so blessed to have them both so active in my life.  Happy 32 years to parents, my heart.

Yellow Bauble

One of my favorite ways to shop for new items is online.  This day in age there are so many options for us it just seems silly to pay full price. My go-to sites are etsy and ebay.  You can always find deals and replicas of almost anything in stores.  When I first saw this bauble necklace from Jcrew I fell in love. I found a few sites that had it for about half the price, but after digging a little deeper I found this one on ebay which is so much in my price range.  When you are buying such a statement item like this I don’t see a point in splurging on it.  I just got it back from a girlfriend who was borrowing it for a few months and I couldn’t believe how much I missed it.  :)

Transitional Pieces

I think it’s important to have pieces in your wardrobe that are not strictly limited to a season like “summer” “winter” etc.   I try and focus on that when shopping for new things to implement into my clothing.  Fall is the hardest season for me to transition into.  In Arizona our summer lasts until the end of September and by that time the fall fashion is halfway over in store fronts.

Starring at my closet, looking for something to wear I remembered a pair of shorts I was given last winter that I have never worn…These shorts are a velvety material and at first glance I pictured perfectly combined with tights/boots or heels, but they’re lightweight enough to pair with this basic t and sandals.

Stay tuned for more outfits on the topic of transitioning into fall.  I hope you have a terrific Tuesday!
