Mama’s know best

Mothers Day is quickly approaching…(May 13th). And if you’re anything like me you struggle what to get that special woman who brought you into the world. Let’s face it, mom doesn’t need another candle. Here are a few ideas of great Mother’s Day gifts for mama’s all over…

The kindle fire is a great gift for mamas. My mom is always reading a new series and on to her next book. It is an easy way for them to read hundreds of books without the clutter of owning all of them.

I love this Pamala Love locket. She is such an awesome designer and this victoria style locket is perfect!

I stumbled upon this adorable Etsy shop last week browsing. I love all of Amanda Catherine’s wall pieces. You may even find one for yourself while you’re looking for mom. :)

I have always been a Longchamp fan and this spring colored large tote is practical for a mama on the go who needs a lot of space. If your mom is anything like mine she is constantly running from one place to the next and is always on the go and this bag is perfect for that.

Of course being a Philosophy addict I love this gift. This is a limited edition Summer Grace fragrance for summer. It is that perfect, light floral scent that you want for summertime.

This post is dedicated to two women, my mom and my grandma Shields.

Grandma Shields passed away when I was young, but she was and will always be my style icon. She dressed to impress and had a special place in her heart for bags, coats, and shoes. We would have been partners in crime I am sure. Happy Mothers Day Grandma.

My mama has become one of my best friends. I wish I could grab some stars and that bright glowing thing and bring it to you, because a gift is really not enough. I LOVE YOU MARY BLACK!!!

I hope your week starts off with a bang!!!

Studs & Collars

I was shopping earlier this week and found this amazing pair of Jeffery Campbell spiked ankle strap heels. I have been looking for a bright heel and this was just what the Dr. ordered. I paired it with a crisp white button up shirt and a boyfriend jean because let’s be serious…they speak for themselves. I am really liking the collared necklace trend and have added a few into my collection. This one in particular is simple but still gets the job done.

Palazzo Poppin’

*Pictures from pinterest*

Move over skinny jeans, there is a new, more comfortable pant in town, The palazzo pant. This light weight, breezy cotton is such a great spring item for everyone’s wardrobe. It made it’s return (originally from the 1960’s) last spring and is here to stay this year as well. At first, I admit I wasn’t a fan of this item as I am smaller on the bottom than the top and felt that it made me look stumpy.  A lot of last seasons looks were paired with flats and I noticed that by adding a simple wedge it really elongates the pant.

I decided to add this great vintage yellow blazer for a little bit more of a classic less boho look.

Windy City-Wrap up

We finally made it home! Chicago will always be my fav U.S. city and we had the most amazing time sight seeing, visiting family, eating and most importantly shopping.  Here are a few collages capturing the best moments of the trip…

If you have never been to Chicago I highly recommend traveling there. Go in the summer and go for a week. I hope all you lovelies are having an ab fab week!!!

Windy City- Museum Day

We have one more lovely day in beautiful Chicago! Today we were able to experience some of the great Museums. I love this look for a long day. Layering is essential in this city because you never know what to expect. I have always been a huge fan of Red, white and blue/black together. It is a comfortable and classic look that looks effortlessly tailored.

Navy Pier is a Chicago staple. Each day that we’re here I fall back in love with my hometown city. I told Jaimeson I could move back. (insert gasp here) Ck out our beautiful day at Navy Pier…

This is probably my favorite picture that we have taken on the trip.  :) I love these new shoes so much!!!

Windy City Vol 3

The food in Chicago is amazing. Last night after the Cubs game we went to this restaurant called Cheesies, where all they had was different gourmet grilled cheeses. My dapper fellow was in LOVE! We got the mac and cheese grilled cheese and split it. OH MY GOSH! I seriously want to open one in Scottsdale because it was that amazing! There are old school video games inside as well as a full bar. I was taken back to my childhood…I mean grilled cheeses and pac man? Does it get any better?

Today is the first day that we have been here where I am not freezing. The sun is out and air is crisp. We did a lot of walking today on the hunt for what else, but MORE pizza! :) One of the best things about Chicago is how clean it is. They spend so much time and money on landscaping and if you’re lucky enough to come in the spring/summer you get to see the result…Tulips galore. Pink, red, blue, orange, green, yellow, white, purple, every single color you can think of. It just makes the city look that much better.

Windy City Vol 2

Today is another chilly one. I am so thankful for this amazing jacket that I packed last minute. I remember being in the store and debating to get it. (It is so hard for me to purchase cold weather items because I get little use out of them in Phoenix) My boyfriend/voice of reason said…”Get it, it’s perfect for Chicago” It apparently was a popular item because I looked up where you could buy it and there aren’t any more! :( But the brand is one of my fav workout/loungewear Zella. I have a few pairs of pants and similar jacket with the thumb wrap. I thought it was just a styled look, not a necessity and after being in the cold for two days it is definitely a necessity for keeping in all warmth! We are staying at the W on Lakeshore drive and J and I agree it is one of the nicest hotels we have both been to. It is so beautiful, modern and conveniently close to everything. These photos were taken right outside the hotel.
